Streamlining Gulfstream's Access to Solar Power

Pursuing a goal of net-zero emissions by 2050, Savannah-based Gulfstream Aerospace selected Cherry Street Energy as their clean energy provider. Through this partnership, the business jet leader was able to quickly make progress on that goal.

Cherry Street Energy's solar program supports Gulfstream's manufacturing excellence through:

  • Four industry-leading solar power systems across the Savannah campus
  • Clean energy at each facilities' points of consumption
  • Ability to add more systems through a vertically-integrated operations model

The systems were successfully installed without penetrating the roof. However, there were still special considerations made for their construction. “Because of the location, we had added considerations for high wind loads and seismic activity," says Cherry Street CTO Ben Damiani.

This strategic collaboration demonstrates how aerospace leaders can accelerate sustainability while maintaining operational precision in aircraft design, manufacturing, and maintenance.

Gulfstream's Dual Impact: Less Emissions, More Careers

The project also incorporated Cherry Street’s Shine On program – the company’s workforce development and training initiative to help individuals and businesses reimagine their skills to support the renewable energy economy – by working with Makson Electrical.

“Cherry Street gave me the opportunity to grow my knowledge on clean renewable energy and to develop my workforce in a positive manner,” says owner, Taff Goodman. “The Gulfstream projects were productive experiences. Cherry Street’s team provided us with great guidance through design, pre-construction, construction, and commissioning. After that job I placed Cherry Street at the top of my businesses that I desire to grow with.”
